About the event
Cables appear in a variety of knitting styles and create stunning works of art. In this St Patrick’s Day-themed workshop, we'll focus on the unique style of Aran knitting which originated on the Aran Islands off the west coast of Ireland. We’ll learn how to work several types of cables as well as how to read cable patterns and charts. Of course, as in all things Irish, the tradition of Aran knitting comes with its own set of folktales which we’ll discuss while we knit.
Level: Intermediate or Adventurous Beginner (you know how to knit and purl)
Please Bring: 4.5mm needles and a few stitch markers
Yarn and a cable needle will be provided in the workshop
Tea and coffee will be available during the class.
This event is PWYC (PayWhatYouCan) with all proceeds going to support the IRL Festival programming.
